Thommy's Christmas Party / Peace On Earth
Christmas Stars Of The 70's
Two Christmas songs by the New Seekers, both of them recorded long after Lyn Paul had left the group, have been featured on compilation albums recorded by stars from the 1960s and 1970s.
The 1990s line-up of the New Seekers featuring Donna Jones, Mick Flinn and Vikki James recorded I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus especially for the 1994 compilation Thommy's Christmas Party. This was a double-CD compilation put together by Alan Williams of The Rubettes for his production company AWEL and presented by the well-known German TV personality, Thomas Gottschalk. The album featured newly-recorded tracks by stars from the 1960s and '70s, among them The Equals, The Glitter Band, Marmalade, Middle of the Road and Mungo Jerry.. It was released in Germany initially and then in other territories on exclusive license to BMG Ariola Media Gmbh.
The New Seekers and some of the other participating artists sang together on one song, Peace On Earth, which was also released as a four-track single.
Five years later the New Seekers' recording of I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus appeared on another compilation, Chrstmas Stars Of The 70's. This double-CD set included a second song by the New Seekers, Christmas Time - a track remixed from archive material dating from the 1980s.
